The opening round of the 2025 Audi TT Cup at Silverstone GP was a weekend of highs and lows. We showed strong pace in qualifying and came away with a podium in Race 1, but Race 2 brought an early end to our weekend after an unfortunate mechanical issue.
Qualifying went well, and we secured P4 on the grid, which put us in a good position to fight at the front.
Race 1 was a challenging but rewarding experience. A hectic first lap saw us drop to P6, but our pace allowed us to make up positions as the race went on. By the second half, we were the fastest car on track. A dramatic final lap saw a three-car battle for the podium, and we crossed the line in P3, securing a valuable points finish.
Race 2 didn’t go to plan. The car developed an oil leak, which led to oil starvation and, ultimately, engine failure. With a quick turnaround before Race 3, the team worked flat out to swap in the spare engine, but we narrowly missed getting the car ready in time to make the grid.
Not the way we wanted to end the weekend, but there are plenty of positives to take away. We'll regroup and come back stronger for the next round at Oulton Park on 19th April.
A big thank you to Hawk Performance brake pads supplied by Tegiwa, Duncan Phillips Management Limited, and Harlow Agricultural Merchants for their support. I'm looking forward to continuing the 2025 season alongside these brands.
